OHVI® Industrial Engine
Generac's OHVI (Overhead Valve Industrial) engines have been specifically designed for generator demands. The use of advanced, automotive technologies results in engines that are broken in right out of the box, feature service intervals of 2 years or 200 hours and have a long-run, long-life design. Full pressure lubrication provides instant lubrication to all vital engine parts at moment of start-up. Spin-on oil filter prolongs oil and engine life.
Whisper-Test™
Reduces noise to a whisper by lowering engine speed during the generator's weekly self-test. Models with Whisper Test (17 and 20 kW) are as quiet as a car idling in the driveway during exercise, making them the quietest standby generators on the market.
Pre-wired and Pre-packaged for Easy Installation
GUARDIAN's pre-packaged, pre-wired air-cooled systems make installation easy and, therefore, incredibly affordable for the do-it-yourselfer! Air-cooled models come with a pre-wired automatic transfer switch, outdoor connection box and composite mounting pad. (Because of its transfer switch design, the 20kW is not pre-wired.)
Automatic Transfer Switch with Built-in Load Center
The automatic transfer switch automatically switches the source of power from the utility to the generator within seconds of a power outage. Because it's automatic, you never have to flip a switch. Provides 8 circuits of protection on the 8 kW model, 10 circuits on the 10 kW, 12 circuits on the 14 kW and 16 circuits on the 17 kW.
NEW Power Manager® LTS - 200 Amp Transfer Switch
Combined with the GUARDIAN 20 kW model, the load-shedding Power Manager LTS protects an entire 200 amp utility service panel. Load shedding protects from generator overload by dropping non-critical circuits while maintaining power to 16 critical circuits. The switch then brings non-critical circuits back online when power is available. The NEMA 3R outdoor rated enclosure is service entrance rated, eliminating the need for a separate sub panel.
Digital Controls
User-friendly digital controls include two-line, bilingual LCD display with enhanced diagnostics and improved user interface. Provides generator run time (hour meter), power output percentage and maintenance interval schedule as well as any generator safety shutdown or fault should one occur.
Automatic Exerciser
An automatic seven (7) day test of your system allows you to verify that your generator is in peak operating condition at all times.
External Panel Items
Includes GFCI outlet for outdoor power, generator status LED, maintenance interval LED (17 and 20kW models) and circuit breaker disconnect. (Not available on the 8kW model.)
Convenient, Eco-Friendly Fuel Supply
GUARDIAN automatic standby generators operate on natural gas or LP gas. This provides you with unlimited run time during extended utility power failures. Natural and LP gas engines offer half the ozone forming emissions of gasoline engines with no environmental containment concerns. The cleaner-burning fuel virtually eliminates odor and color from exhaust and means less maintenance on the engine with cleaner oil and less frequent changes.
Protective Enclosure
The enclosure protects your generator from harmful weather and includes key locks for security. The galvanized steel provides superior protection from corrosion. Sound-absorbing panels also reduce exterior noise levels.
Aluminum Enclosure
The Guardian 20kW and all QuietSource models come standard with aluminum enclosures for the ultimate in corrosion protection. (Optional on the 17 kW model.)

Textured, powder coat paint process provides consistent coverage and better bonding to seams and exposed edges providing durability and a long-lasting, tough finish.
Maintenance Friendly
Air-cooled models feature a hinged top and removable panels. Liquid-cooled models feature large, removable doors. This provides easy and quick access for maintenance and servicing.
Automatic Safety Shutdowns
Automatic safety shutdowns protect the engine and generator in the event of low oil pressure, high temperature, overspeed and/or overcrank.
Optional Remote Monitoring Display Module
Shows Time/Date stamped history of generator, allows remote starting and stopping of generator, indicates service schedule, provides weekly test notification and displays warning and/or fault indicators. (Not available on the 8kW model.)
Battery Charger
A built-in battery charger ensures that the battery remains at an optimum performance level.
UL-Listed
For your safety, GUARDIAN standby generators are UL 2200 listed and all transfer switches are UL 1008 listed. This validates safety and kilowatt ratings.
EPA and CARB Emission Requirements
Generators up to 25kW must comply with EPA and CARB emissions requirements. All GUARDIAN generators up to 25 kW meet these requirements.
